DIMAPUR — Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba has expressed concern over the deplorable condition of National Highway-702D (NH-702D), which connects as many as five districts of Nagaland.
The legislator expressed dismay after conducting a spot verification of the said road to oversee the ongoing work progress on Saturday.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Thsievisie Phoji, SDO , SDO (PWD-NH), SDPO Mangkolemba, Changki Village Council and NDPP Mokokchung region officials, according to an update received here.
‘I have come today to personally inspect and experience the condition of the road and to highlight the grievances to the higher authority. The deputy commissioner (Thsievisie Phoji) and I are concerned about the situation as this is the only lifeline for the people of Mokokchung, Tuensang, Zunheboto, Tuensang and Noklak districts,’ Temjenmenba was quoted as saying.
Besides the five districts, the road also serves people from some surrounding areas of Wokha and Shamator districts.
He said the district administration can take the voluntary service of the neighbouring villagers, as assured by them, and find a way to address the issue together for the welfare of everyone.
The advisor thanked the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung for his sacrifice and administrative acumen in managing the situation despite the hurdles at hand, as well as the executive engineer (NH) of Mokokchung division and Changki village for always being there to help the authority.
He also requested the SDPO of Mangkolemba circle to strictly implement restriction of heavy duty vehicles on the NH-702D for two months, as ordered by the deputy commissioner, until the road is motorable so that the flow of essential commodities to the five districts is not affected.
