Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): National Cadet Corps cadets and students of Woodland Higher Secondary School in Zunheboto organised a cleanliness drive as part of the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyaan on October 2.
Students and teachers cleaned the school’s campus and its surrounding areas, a press release informed on Wednesday.
“Thick overgrown grass and bushes were cleared and all the plastics and other garbage were also cleared from the areas,” it said.
The cleaning drive was aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of plastic on the environment, the updates stated.
More than 50 NCC cadets, students and teachers participated in the cleanliness drive, it informed.
Elsewhere, citizens and school children of Shamator town participated in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programme by taking part in a community work by cleaning the areas of plastic and other waste.
According to a DIPR update on October 2, district officials, departments and NGOs participated in the work.
