Dimapur, Aug. 31 (EMN): Lt. Gen. MM Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM has relinquished the charge of Indian army’s Eastern Command, ending an 11-month tenure.
A statement from the public relations officer (Defence) on Saturday informed that Naravane has been transferred to Army Headquarters to assume the role of Vice Chief of Army Staff.
“Under his watch, the Command which is pivotal to India’s Act East Policy, has contributed immensely to nation building in many ways, significant among them being effective counter-insurgence operations thereby ensuring peaceful environment for developmental activities to reach the people,” read the statement.
