Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Dr. TM Lotha today stressed the need for hard work and sincerity in order to progress and be at par with the rest of the world.
Inaugurating the Hornbill Mart, IOC Pump NH-2 near Mohonkhola this evening, Dr. Lotha said Naga forefathers were known for their hard-work, sincerity and friendly nature. Nevertheless, he lamented that such human values were slowly diminishing from the present Naga society with youngsters wanting to lead a fashionable life without having their own means of sustenance.
Appreciating the efforts of the entrepreneur Visüpi for opening Hornbill Mart, he said the educated young Nagas should be willing to venture into business and entrepreneurship as the government jobs in the state have already reached saturation point. ‘It is high time that Naga youths learn to live by themselves because with the change of time, Nagas have become very lazy and depended on easy money.’
The state can never progress and develop unless we work hard, he said adding that Naga people hardly want to work.
Nevertheless, he also regretted saying that hindrances in the form of taxation and other anti-social elements have been barring the progress of entrepreneurship in the state. At this rate, he expressed fear that even if Nagas were set free, “it will be problem for us to catch up with the rest of the world”.
The programme was chaired by Assistant Director Tourism Department, V. Duolo while Pastor of Viswema Baptist Church Rev. Hosato Kiso pronounced the dedicatory prayer.
