Dimapur, November 25: Naga persons in Myanmar also joined the 96th Myanmar National Day celebrations at the invitation of the government of Yangon region, in Myanmar.
The Council of Naga Affairs, Naga Traditional Literacy and Culture, and the Shwe Naung Yan Co. Ltd issued a press release on Friday offering updates about the event.
Among those in attendance, besides Naga persons in Myanmar, U Tin Oo, the patron and founder of National League for Democracy; U Phyo Min Thein, chief minister of Yangon Region; speakers of both the houses, and union ministers; Min Ko Naing of 88 Generation attended the event.
The dignitaries were presented with Naga traditional headgears, waistcoats and traditional ornaments, the organizers stated.
“Nagas feel a deep sense of gratitude to the government of Yangon Region for providing such a space on this auspicious day during which Naga people are privileged to show the cordial nature of Naga culture to our neighbors and friends,” the press release said.
In the words of the organizers, visitors were interested in Naga traditional rice beer (Zutho) and traditional ornaments during the occasion. They crowded booths, the press release stated.
“During the event, medias were asked the forthcoming visit of Nagaland CM to Myanmar along with the Car Rally though no official communication to Sagaing Regional Gov, Nagas MPs, Naga Yoya(Central) and CNA,” it added.
