Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): Themed as “Home is when we are together” the Naga diaspora of NCR Delhi celebrated advent Christmas at Nagaland House, 29 APJ Abdul Kalam Road, on December 10.
Basing on the theme of the year Rev. Dr. Mathanmi Zimik, senior pastor of the Tangkhul Church Delhi, delivered a message based on Psalm 95: 6 ‘Come let us bow down in worship, Let us kneel before the Lord our maker.’ In his sermon, Rev. Zimik urged the Nagas learning to humble and surrender themselves to the Lord and to love their own brothers and sisters. He stated that Nagas need the humility of Christ that touches the most wounded and the hurt more than anything today.
President of Naga Forum Delhi, Neiphiu Rio, in his welcome address, wished that Christmas season would bring a better time. He emphasised on the need for Nagas to reconcile and begin building trust and hope amongst ‘ourselves.’ Stating that nothing works better than being united, Rio urged the congregation to ponder on the theme of the day “Home is when we are together,” saying “we are safest when we are in the care of each others, there is and cannot be anything better than being loved and beloved by one’s own brothers.”
Leading the congregation Ms Mercy Epao, Director of Ministry for Development of Northeast Region (DONER), urged the congregation to come to the lord in submission and in love. Chakhesang Christian Fellowship (CCF) and Poumai Baptist Church Delhi (PBCD) presented Christmas songs, while the Tangkhul Church Delhi (TCD) led the carol for the occasion. The Delhi Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union (DENSU) took over the responsibility of ushering the congregation and decorating the stage. The dinner and refreshment were served by the Lotha Christian Fellowship (LCF) and the Thangal Maram Fellowship (TMF).
More than 350 Nagas from various walks of life attended the fellowship. The event was organised by the Naga Forum Delhi along with the various community churches and fellowships of the Nagas in Delhi.
