DIMAPUR — The Hornbill Festival of Nagaland has been conferred the Silver Banyan Award for Best Cultural Music & Dance by THE WEEK Heritage Awards.
An update from PRO Nagaland House, New Delhi, informed that the award was presented during a function held in New Delhi on Saturday.
Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, handed over the award to Sharon Longchari, Joint Resident Commissioner of Nagaland House, New Delhi, who received it on behalf of the state.
Instituted to protect, preserve and promote India’s diverse cultural and heritage landscape, the Heritage Awards recognise excellence in categories such as Historical Tourism, Heritage Tourism, Riverside Heritage Tourism, Pilgrimage and Spiritual Tourism, Traditional Skills, Best Cultural Music & Dance, Best Tourist Circuit, Best Travel Operator, Best Advertising Agency and Best Creative.
