Dimapur/Mokokchung, Aug. 17 (EMN): Nagaland recorded 61 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, taking the state’s tally to 3455.
This was informed by the minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom.
“61 new positive cases of Covid-19 have been detected out of 577 samples tested. 34 in Dimapur, 24 in Kohima, 2 in Zunheboton and 1 in Mokokchung. Necessary Contact tracing have been activated,” the minister tweeted.
According to information provided by the Health department, the state has 1911 active Covid-19 cases, 1530 recoveries and eight deaths.
Out of the 61 cases detected on Monday, 30 were armed forces personnel, 14 traced contacts, nine returnees, and eight frontline workers.
Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, in his daily briefing, infirmed that out of the 3,455 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people are 1,511 armed forces personnel, 1,177 returnees, 233 frontline workers, 490 traced contacts and 54 others.
A new Covid-19 positive case was detected in Mokokchung on the night of August 16, while another patient recovered from the virus at the district’s Covid care centre on Monday. The positive case is from a quarantine centre in Mokokchung.
With the fresh detection, the total number of cases in the district has reached 19 so far.
The current status of Covid-19 in the district is: two active cases and 17 recoveries.
The deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, in an update, informed that both the active cases were asymptomatic and their conditions, stable.
