Nagaland Wushu Association to host first state level Wushu championship

KOHIMA — The Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA), in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, will host the first State Level Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Wushu (Sanda) Championship at the Pele Khezhie Indoor Stadium, Kohima, on October 28 and 29.


According to a press release from the Nagaland Wushu Association, the two-day championship aims to promote and strengthen Wushu as a competitive sport in Nagaland while providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and prepare for higher-level competitions.


The inaugural programme on October 28 at 10 am will be attended by Kudecho Khamo, MLA and advisor, CAWD and taxes, and president of the Nagaland Wushu Association, as the special guest.


Pele Khezhie, president of the Nagaland Olympic Association and Nagaland Taekwondo Association, will attend as the guest of honour.


According to the organisers, contingents will line up at 9 am, followed by the arrival of special guests at 9:40 am. The formal inaugural ceremony will begin at 10 am.

Neibou Sechu, vice president of the Nagaland Wushu Association, will serve as the master of ceremonies, while Deo Huprem, youth director of CBCK, will deliver the invocation.


The championship will feature athletes from across Nagaland competing in Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories in the Sanda discipline. More than 130 participants from different districts of Nagaland are expected to take part in the championship.
