Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): Advisor to the department of Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha has lauded the team of wrestlers from Nagaland who had returned home with 20 medals from the 6th National Traditional and Pankration Championship 2018 held at Pune in Maharashtra.
“My sincere appreciation to the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) for the dedication and efforts they put to master (sic) the wrestlers to a greater height. Your dedication towards wrestling is truly admirable. The achievement you all made in wrestling have (sic) made the state proud. I am hoping it will motivate more youngsters of our state to pursue the game of wrestling on professional front. My best wishes to all the participants for a bright future,” read a message from the advisor on Sunday.
The belt wrestling and other traditional wrestling are similar to Naga style (traditional) wrestling which, if recognised by the ‘Olympic Federation’ in the future, will accommodate Naga athletes to compete at international level, he stated.
“Nevertheless with our predominance and familiarity to wrestling, this is a sport in which Nagas will excel beyond in bringing laurels for the nation,” Neikha asserted.
