The Nagaland Wrestling Association is conducting state-level selection trials on August 18 for the National Games 2027.
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS), will conduct an open state-level trial selection for Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Women's wrestling in Kohima on August 18.
According to an update, the trial selection will commence at 9:00 am, and participants must report to the venue one hour before the scheduled time. Interested and eligible wrestlers must submit their name, age, gender, and weight to the contact numbers 8787538827, 9862778564, or 7005104434 on or before August 15.
The trial is open to all eligible bona fide residents of Nagaland who meet the prescribed age and weight category requirements and are physically fit.
The categories for the trials include Freestyle (Senior Men): 57 kg, 65 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 97 kg, and 125 kg; Greco-Roman (Senior Men): 60 kg, 67 kg, 77 kg, 87 kg, 97 kg, and 130 kg; and Women Wrestling (Senior): 50 kg, 53 kg, 57 kg, 62 kg, 68 kg, and 76 kg.

Selected wrestlers will undergo a High-Performance Residential Training Camp in Kohima from August 20 to September 30. Following the training camp, a state-level championship-cum-selection trial will be conducted.
The selected wrestlers from the state championship will then undergo Advanced National Level Training Camp at national training centres outside the state from October 2026 to February 2027. Upon completion, a final trial selection will be conducted to select one wrestler in each category to represent Nagaland at the National Games 2027, scheduled for March 2027 in Meghalaya, where the wrestling discipline will be co-hosted by Nagaland.
The final selected wrestlers will undergo a final competition preparation camp in Kohima from March 2027 until the conclusion of the games.
The NWA notified all affiliated and provisional units that this information supersedes the earlier circular regarding the wrestling coaching camp. All units must submit their list of wrestlers according to the specified categories on or before August 15.
