Nagaland Wrestling Association announce wrestlers for Hornbill Naga wrestling

Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): Under the aegis of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), the 12th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship 2018 is all set to be conducted on Dec. 4 at 9 am at the Amphitheatre, Naga Heritage Village, at Kisama. The championship is sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland. According to a press statement issued by NWA General Secretary, Vekhozo, the championship shall be attended by Pele Khezhie, President, Nagaland Taekwondo Association & Convenor Northeast Taekwondo Association as the special guest. The championship will be conducted in two categories: Professional and amateur & tourist category. Under professional category, the three NWA constituent units; Angami Sports Association (ASA), Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA), and Zeliang Wrestling Association (ZWA) shall send their eight best wrestlers while outside state wrestling association; Senapati District Wrestling Association (SDWA), Manipur will also sent equal number of wrestlers for competition in the professional category. The following wrestlers from NWA constituent units have confirmed their participation under professional category representing their association, while SDWA, Manipur is yet to send its list of wrestlers.

Meanwhile, invitation is extended to all wrestling enthusiasts within and outside the state for participation under amateur & tourist category. Wrestlers from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi and other neighbouring states are also expected. The entry will be free and can be registered on spot on Dec. 4 or can contact any NWA Officials at 9612111544 for registration. The best four wrestlers in the professional category shall be awarded a sum of INR 1,00,000, 60,000, 30,000, and 20,000 while under amateur & Tourist category, the best four wrestlers shall receive a sum of INR 30,000, 20,000, 10,000, and 5,000.
