Nagaland wins award at World Tuberculosis Day 2025 Summit
The summit highlighted significant progress in TB elimination through joint efforts by communities and the government. It also
reflected on the success of the 100-Day Intensified TB Elimination Mission under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
- DIMAPUR — The
World TB Day 2025 Summit, on the theme “Yes! We can end TB: commit, invest,
deliver,” was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on March 24. Nagaland received
an award during the event, which reaffirmed India's commitment to a TB-Mukt
Bharat.
- According to an update during the event, the nation’s
comprehensive approach to TB elimination, driven by a “whole of society” and
“whole of government” strategy, was reiterated.
- The summit highlighted significant progress in TB
elimination through joint efforts by communities and the government. It also
reflected on the success of the 100-Day Intensified TB Elimination Mission
under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
- The state of Nagaland was honoured and awarded under
Category B, which includes the “TB Mukt Panchayat” initiative, recognising the
percentage of Gram Panchayats that qualified for TB-free status in 2024.
- The award was received from Union Minister for Health and
Family Welfare, JP Nadda, by Anoop Khinchi, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government
of Nagaland, Health and Family Welfare, during the event celebrations.
- In Nagaland, the State TB Elimination Programme, in
collaboration with the Department of Rural Development, has implemented the TB
Mukt Panchayat initiative. In 2024, 166 villages that submitted claims and
underwent a verification process jointly conducted by both departments were
awarded TB-free status.
