Nagaland win Northeast Football Tournament 2023

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland team lifted the Northeast Football Tournament 2023 organised by the North East Students’ Association Dehradun at Uttaranchal University from May 1 to the 9th.

Nagaland defeated Meghalaya in the first match 4-0. Their opponents were left scrambling to find answers to their exceptional teamwork, impeccable strategies, and a level of play that seemed effortless.

Match after match, the Naga team maintained an unwavering focus and determination to uphold their dominance scoring 8-0 against Assam and 6-0 against Manipur to secure their spot in the semi-finals, an update stated.

The team secured an easy win against Sikkim in the semi-finals 7-0, making their way to the final.

The Naga team emerged victorious scoring 1-0 against Arunachal Pradesh and was crowned as the champions of the tournament. Khyolamo B Kikon and I Kavi T Zhimo were awarded as the Best Player and the Highest Scorer of the tournament respectively.

Teams from all the eight Northeast states participated in the tournament.
