Dimapur, Feb. 21 (EMN): The India Meteorological Department (MED) on Monday forecast that the Northeast region, including Nagaland will experience rain during the next 24 hours.
The department reported that a cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh in lower tropospheric levels and a trough in lower and middle westerlies runs roughly along Long.90°E to the north of Lat.22°N and under their influence, scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next 24 hours and reduction thereafter.
According to the report, light/moderate isolated to scattered rainfall/thundershower is likely over the Northeast India during most days of the week from Feb. 24 to March 2 2022. Overall precipitation activity is likely to be above normal in the region.
The district-wise warnings by the department reported Nagaland under “on watch” category on Feb. 21, and as predicted, some parts of the state experienced snowfall and hailstone accompanied by thunderstorm and lightening. However, there is no warning for the state as well as the Northeast region from Feb. 22 to the 25th.
As per the report, Dimapur and Mokokchung districts are likely to experience similar weather -- partly cloudy sky and generally cloudy towards afternoon or evening or night from Feb. 22 to the 24th.
