DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Veterinary Field Assistants Association (NVFAA) conducted its general conference at the Chümoukedima Town Hall on April 24, with Dr. Kuokehebi Gwirie, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, in attendance as the special guest.
Dr. Gwirie appreciated the veterinary field assistants (VFAs) of Nagaland for encouraging and recognising each other in various activities.
According to an update, he reminded that veterinary care is not a solitary effort but a collaboration between veterinarians, VFAs, technicians, and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality veterinary services to the people.

As essential frontline health workers, he noted that they bridge the gap between animal health, environmental health, and human society. While all VFAs are qualified and trained with basic skills and knowledge, he stated that becoming a professionally skilled person requires continuous attachment and dedication to the work.
He pointed out that the veterinary profession is service-driven, requires enduring pain, and involves working in different field conditions. He added that they must keep helping people even when their work is unrecognised, ensuring that farmers benefit from their services to create an impact on society.
Mentioning the ongoing animal vaccination drives conducted in mission mode, he stated that budgets and funding are affected based on performance, which is judged by the Government of India. The central government sets timelines that become a challenge to complete due to the terrain, internet connectivity, tags, and OTP generation issues.
He urged the team to ensure they do not fail the people and fulfil targets, as everything they do is measured by the portal.
During the valedictory session, retired JFM and Governor’s Commendation Awardee 2016 Neizo Chale inspired the VFAs with a testimony on his innovative journey as the inventor of the “Small Animal Restrainer”.
He exhorted all to cooperate with superiors and staff, be punctual, and learn and respect seniors to gain more knowledge and confidence in life.
Meanwhile, Nosazonu Puyo was re-inducted as the president of NVFAA. The members expressed their committed support to her and the executive team in pursuing the rights and welfare of the association.
