Nagaland University football team qualifies for the All India Inter-University Football (Men) Tournament 2025-26 in Kolkata after securing fourth place in the North East Zone.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland University football team will participate in the All India Inter-University Football (Men) Tournament 2025-26, hosted by the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, from January 30 to February 9.
According to a press relese, the team earned its spot by competing in the AIU North East Zone University Championship, held from January 5 to the 11th at Royal Global University in Guwahati, Assam.

It may be noted that the top four teams from each zone qualify for the All India Inter-University Football Tournament, and Nagaland University secured the fourth position in the zonal event. Top performers from this national tournament may advance to the Asian University Games and World University Games.
The team is led by coach Watimenba Longchar, along with managers Mesanguto Meru, assistant director of Sports, and Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, deputy director of Sports, from Nagaland University.
