Nagaland University organises awareness on waste management and dustbin installation programme.

DIMAPUR — The NSS unit of Nagaland University, Kohima campus, has organised a “Waste management awareness drive and dustbin installation programme” on May 15.
An update from the university stated that the programme was conducted under the guidance of the programme officers namely Dr. Ratan Kaurinta and Dr. Rashmi with active participation of NSS volunteers of the university.
The programme began with NSS volunteers painting dustbins. It stated that the activity encouraged teamwork among the volunteers and highlighted the importance of cleanliness and proper waste disposal within the university environment.

Prof. N Venuh, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kohima campus, delivered a speech on the importance of proper waste management. He emphasised that waste management should begin with every individual and not be considered only as the responsibility of sanitation workers. He encouraged the students and volunteers to be mindful of where and how they dispose waste and to maintain discipline in their daily lives so that others might also be inspired to follow good environmental practices.
Later, the volunteers installed dustbins at various strategic locations of the university campus where proper waste disposal facilities were most needed. The installation was aimed at cleanliness, reducing littering and promoting a healthier and more environmentally-conscious campus atmosphere.
NSS volunteers, Dean, Pro Vice-Chancellor, professors, and NSS programme officers participated in the programme.
It mentioned that the initiative was an important step towards spreading awareness on waste management and encouraging students to take collective responsibility for a clean, green and sustainable environment.
