Nagaland University hosts International Chemistry conference

International Conference on Chemistry in Multidisciplinary Research at Nagaland
University in Lumami.
- DIMAPUR — The Department of Chemistry,
Nagaland University, Lumami, is hosting the International Conference on
Chemistry in Multidisciplinary Research (ICCMR) from March 25 to 27.
- According to an update, the event brings together scientists
and academicians to reflect on the evolving role of chemistry in addressing
global challenges and promoting interdisciplinary collaborations.
- At the inaugural programme, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. JK
Patnaik, who is also the chief patron, emphasised the importance of
comprehensive science education while releasing the conference e-abstract book.
He highlighted the need for multidisciplinary research.
- He highlighted the Naga people's enthusiasm for new ideas,
which can create opportunities for advancement in science.
- Prof. MS Rawat, Dean of the School of Sciences, asserted
that a better future can be paved through a multidisciplinary approach.
- The chief guest, Prof. H Ila, Honorary Professor at JNCASR,
Bangalore, who began her professional journey in Northeast India and has made
significant achievements in research over the years, remarked that chemistry is
a highly interactive and multidisciplinary subject with vast potential for
further development.
- As an organic chemist, Prof. Ila explained how synthetic
chemistry creates job opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, ultimately
playing a crucial role in the field of medicine. She emphasised the need to
provide teaching laboratories for both research and graduate students, as
science education cannot be effectively pursued without such facilities.
- The conference features 11 technical sessions with a total
of 26 invited speakers. Furthermore, the conference brings together 71
participants, with 51 oral and 20 poster presenters. The presentations showcase
various innovative research results by scientists, researchers, and students
from across the country, offering valuable insights into the latest
developments in the scientific field.
- These presentations will be judged by experts, and the best
submissions will be awarded sponsorship by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
and CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society.
