
Dimapur, Feb. 18 (EMN): To augment the professional needs of the officers and staff, a three-day training on wildlife crime detection, investigation and law enforcement and camera trapping got underway at Intangki National Park Protection Camp on February 18. The training is being organised by Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), India, in collaboration with Forest department.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, T Aochuba, director of Intangki National Park, welcomed the WCS team for sponsoring the training programme. Stating that the training is being organised at the much needed time, he expressed hope that it would boost the professional competency of the staff.
He also encouraged the participants to involve wholeheartedly in all the activities of the training to get maximum benefit out of it.
Team leader of WCS India, Gargi Sharma has thanked the Forest department and the director of Intangki National Park for collaborating with WCS in organising the training programme.
An update from the Forest department stated that the three-day training programme would include offences under Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, search and seizure procedure, legal documentation, tackling of cyber crime etc. Training on camera trapping would be on various facets of the use of camera trapping methods and field exercises.
Report added that WCS India also donated 10 camera traps, 4 GPS devices, 10 solar chargers, 1 desktop and an HP printer to Intangki National Park Protection Force for aiding in the protection and conservation activities of the department.
