Dimapur, March 6 (EMN) :The Health department of Nagaland is all set to launch Mission Indradhanush from the 7th to the 13th of March.
Mission Indradhanush is a health mission of the government of India. It was launched on December 25 2014. It aims to immunize all children under the age of 2 years, as well as all pregnant women, against seven vaccine preventable diseases.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare launched Mission Indradhanush in December 2014 to ensure that no child remains left out or get dropped out from the ambit of Universal Immunization programme.
From 7th to 13th March, the first round of Mission Indradhanush, phase four, will be launched to strengthen the ongoing routine immunization in Nagaland state. During this round, selected high-focus areas will be covered strategically for high-quality immunization coverage.During the first round of phase-4, a number of districts and blocks will be covered. They are Dimapur: Medziphema, Chumukedima, Nuiland, and Urban; Kohima: Tsemenyu block; Kiphire: Pungroblock; Longleng: all blocks; Mokokchung: Mangkolemba and Tsurangkong blocks; Mon: all blocks; Phek: Meluri block; Peren: Jaluki, Athibung and Tenning blocks; Tuensang: Shamator, Chesore, Noksen, Thonoknyu and Noklak blocks; Wokha: Ralan, Bhandari and Wokha sadar; Zunheboto: Satakha and Suruhoto blocks.
The Health department has appealed for support from the civil society, church leaders and community leaders to create awareness and “join the department in the mission to save children from vaccine preventable diseases.”
