- DIMAPUR — The
plate group final of the Ranji Trophy 2025, in which Nagaland will take on Goa,
is scheduled to take place from January 23 to January 27 at the Nagaland
Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
- According to an update from the Nagaland Cricket Association
(NCA), the clash marks a proud moment for Nagaland, as the team has already
qualified to play in the elite group for the 2025-2026 season by reaching the
final of the prestigious Ranji Trophy plate group.
- The NCA invited cricket and sports enthusiasts across
Nagaland to witness the encounter and cheer for their team. Public entry to the
venue is through Gate No. 4.
- Team Goa will be led by head coach Dinesh Mongia and captain
Darshan Misal, with Arjun Tendulkar, Suyash Prabhudesai, KV Siddharth, and
Snehal Kautankar among the players to watch.
- Team Nagaland will be guided by head coach Debashish Mohanty
and captain Jonathan Rongsen, with players to watch including Suchith J,
Nischal Dega, Chetan Bisht, Imliwati Lemtur, Sedezhalie Rupreo, and Hokaito
Zhimomi.
- Nagaland started their campaign with a dominant victory over
Arunachal Pradesh, defeating them by an innings and 290 runs. They then went on
to defeat Manipur by 147 runs. However, they suffered a setback against Goa,
losing by 83 runs.
- Undeterred, Nagaland bounced back with a win over Sikkim by
an inning and 39 runs. Their match against Mizoram ended in a draw, but
Nagaland took the first innings lead.
- Goa began their journey with an impressive 9-wicket victory
over Manipur. They followed this up with a win over Sikkim, defeating them by
an inning and 53 runs. Goa then defeated Nagaland by 83 runs.
- They continued their strong performance by beating Mizoram
by an inning and 169 runs and concluded their campaign with a remarkable
victory over Arunachal Pradesh by an inning and 551 runs.
