The Nagaland Police badminton team wins eight gold, two silver, and two bronze medals at the 2nd All India Police Badminton Cluster in Lucknow.

DIMAPUR — A 12-member team left for Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on May 7 to participate in the 2nd All India Police Badminton Cluster (Badminton and Table Tennis) 2026 from May 9 to the 13th.
According to an update, the Nagaland Police badminton team showcased incredible skill and talent during the five-day tournament, winning eight gold medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals. The team secured the fourth position in the overall medal tally.
Joseph Sumi, Sports Officer in Nagaland Police, successfully defended his title in three categories for the second time: Gazetted Officer (GO) Open Men’s Singles, GO 45+ Men’s Singles, and GO Open Men’s Doubles.

Gold medals were won by Joseph Sumi in GO Open Men’s Singles and GO 45+ Men’s Singles; Joseph Sumi and Emmanuel Shohe in GO Open Men’s Doubles; Imlirenla in Non-GO 45+ Women’s Singles; Imlirenla and Uma Tamang in Non-GO 40+ Women’s Doubles; Uma Tamang in Non-GO 40+ Women’s Singles; Bendangnaro and Uma Tamang in Non-GO 35+ Women’s Doubles; and Bendangnaro in Non-GO 35+ Women’s Singles.
Silver medals were secured by Dr. Sentinukla and Vesuzolo Swuro in GO Open Women’s Doubles and Tajenkaba and Imlirenla in Non-GO 45+ Mixed Doubles. Bronze medals were won by Tajenkaba in Non-GO 45+ Men’s Singles, and Tajenkaba and Raju Chetri in Non-GO 45+ Men’s Doubles.
The Nagaland Police badminton team conveyed special appreciation to Rupin Sharma, Director General of Police, Nagaland, and his team of officers at the Nagaland Police Complex, Chümoukedima, headed by James Kinghen, DIGP (Trg) and Camp Commandant, and Ben Longkumer, Commanding Officer, Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre, for allowing the team to participate in the tournament.
