DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA) organised a felicitation programme at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, to honour state players and referees for their achievements at national and international levels.


NTA president Pele Khezhie lauded the progress of taekwondo in Nagaland and highlighted the team’s recent success at the Seongnam Open International Taekwondo Championships, South Korea, where three athletes—Vilabızo Nagi (U-68 kg), Sentimoa Ozukum (U-56 kg) and Athongti (U-49 kg)—won gold medals.

Referees Theja Keretsü and Moon Thapa were also recognised for their contributions at national and international events.


During the South Korea visit, the delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Seongnam Sports University to enhance global training and exposure opportunities. The team also received praise from Kukkiwon president Dr. Dongsup Lee.


The NTA additionally felicitated medalists of the 4th Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championship in Cuttack—Sudeh Lamlıu (Gold, U-29 kg), Shiusuthong (Gold, U-35 kg) and Iciheing Ndang (Silver, U-50 kg)—along with coaches Visabiu Peseyie and Tiameren Aier.


Encouraging the athletes, Khezhie urged them to target Olympic medals, stating that Nagaland has the potential to shine on the international sports stage with dedication and discipline.
