Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): Seven Taekwon-do players from Nagaland Taekwon-do Federation (ITF) represented India at the 6th South Asian ITF Taekwon-do championship held at Kathmandu, Nepal from July 12 till the 15th according to a press note received here on Tuesday.
The team was led by team coach Sujit Roy, a Black belt 4th degree and International Instructor and Referee. Nagaland team won one gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
The players who won medals are as follows:
- Haden Odyuo won a gold medal in 57-63 weight category below 18 years (individual sparring)
- Kupto H Assumi won a Silver medal in 51-57 weight category above 18 years (individual sparring)
- Shanchothung Ngullie won a silver medal in 51-57 weight category below 18 years (individual sparring)
- Shingyieh Y. Konyak won a silver medal in female group sparring and bronze medal in 46-51 weight category (individual sparring)
- Pika H. Yepthomi won a bronze medal in 46-50 weight category above 18 years (individual sparring)
- Kamal Dhar won a bronze medal in 64-69 weight category above 18 years (individual sparring)
In addition to the medals won by the players, Sujit Roy, was adjudged the best referee of the championship and was awarded with memento, certificate and cash.
