ongoing first edition of the Nagaland Super League (NSL), on Wednesday, Barak
FC faced Sechu Zubza FC at Chümoukedima Football Stadium, Red Scars FC played
against 27 United FC at IG Stadium, Kohima, and Frontier Warriors FC met
Nagaland United SC at Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
- The match between Sechu Zubza FC and Barak FC ended in a
goalless draw.
- Both teams created several scoring opportunities but failed
to convert. Sechu Zubza FC, looking for a much-needed win after two consecutive
losses, pressed forward but was denied by Barak FC’s solid defence.
- Barak FC, currently leading the points table, managed to
hold off late attacks from the opposition.
- The match saw an intense midfield battle, with both sides
struggling to break the deadlock. The goalkeepers made crucial saves, ensuring
the scoreline remained unchanged.
- With this draw, Barak FC stays at the top of the table,
while Sechu Zubza FC secures a point but will be disappointed not to claim a
victory. Menoneikho Nakhro from Sechü Zubza FC was named the Player of the
Match.
- Meanwhile, the match between Red Scars FC and 27 United FC
ended 0-1.
- Red Scars came out firing, with Sentilong narrowly missing
an opportunity in the 6th minute, failing to convert an early chance. The
half-hour mark saw drama as 27 United’s equaliser was disallowed for offside
(20'), while their keeper showcased agility with a crucial block to deny a
long-range effort (21').
- Red Scars’ attacking play continued to threaten, with a
dangerous cross in the 25th minute going begging as headers missed their
connections. The best chance of the half fell to 27 United’s Ngansang, whose
header struck the crossbar (36'), leaving the scoreline goalless at halftime.
- In the second half, both sides traded chances in the opening
minutes, but it was 27 United who gradually turned the tide. Red Scars’ keeper
Eshong stood tall, denying Ngansang with a sensational save (57'), while 27
United’s defence repelled wave after wave of long-ball attacks from Red Scars.
