GHSS Sungro remains locked for a third day over staff shortage as Lotha students’ union issues a 48-hour ultimatum

WOKHA — Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sungro remained locked for the third consecutive day on Wednesday as students and village councils continued their agitation over the shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff.
The indefinite agitation was called by Sungro Range civil society organisations (CSOs), which have been demanding the immediate appointment of adequate teaching and non-teaching staff, alleging that the prolonged shortage has severely affected academic activities and jeopardised the future of students.
The agitation is expected to intensify following support from the Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU), which backed the demands during a press conference on November 3.

The union has given the authorities concerned 48 hours to resolve the matter, warning that it would be compelled to intensify democratic protests if no concrete action is taken within the stipulated period.
The LMRSU stated that adequate staffing at the institution was essential to safeguard the educational rights and future prospects of students in the area.
Meanwhile, teachers and faculty members of GHSS Sungro were seen outside the campus on Wednesday as the school building remained locked by the joint CSOs of Sungro Range.
