
Dimapur, Nov. 22 (EMN): Surakshit Matriva Aashwasan (SUMAN) scheme was officially launched at District Hospital, Phek, on November 22 by Dr. Khriezotuo Paphino, chief medical officer (CMO) of Phek, in the presence of EAC Phek Sadar, Joshua, medical superintendant of DH, Phek Area Mother’s Association (PAMA), Women Welfare Society (WWS), colony ward chairmen, staff of DH and CMO office.
SUMAN was launched to create a responsive healthcare system, which strives to achieve zero maternal and infant deaths through quality care provided with dignity and respect, an update stated.
Dr. Pangertemsu, junior specialist (Obs. & Gyn.), presented the aims and objectives of SUMAN programme, target beneficiaries under the scheme, various entitlements under the initiative and conceptual framework of the programme. He also spoke on the importance of community participation to disseminate the benefits of SUMAN programme for the successful implementation of the programme.
Dr. Pewezo Khalo, DPO RCH/UIP, gave a brief highlight on the benefits under SUMAN scheme for all the pregnant women and sick neonates.
Dr. Avilie Zao, MS at DH, delivered the welcome speech and Dr. Seyie Rutsa, paediatrician at DH, proposed vote of thanks. The programme was chaired by Azole.
