Nagaland State Legal Services Authority stall at Hornbill Festival provides legal services to over 1000 visitors at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.

DIMAPUR — At the Legal Services Stall set up by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, during the 26th Hornbill Festival, which culminated on December 10, more than 1,000 beneficiaries came and availed free legal services.
According to the Member Secretary of NSLSA Neiko Akami, the total number of beneficiaries recorded was 1094, including local visitors and domestic tourists.
Justice Ashutosh Kumar, chief justice of Gauhati High Court and patron-in-chief of the NSLSA, visited the stall on December 2. He was accompanied by other Gauhati High Court judges and officials.
The beneficiaries during the 10 days collected legal pamphlets on different topics, including new laws in English and Nagamese. Pamphlets translated into different local dialects were also distributed.

It said that the message of free legal services was widely put across, and those seeking legal assistance or representation were referred to the respective district and state legal services authorities.
The stall was assisted by panel lawyers and paralegal volunteers (PLVs) and staff of NSLSA.
Seven interns from St. Joseph's College, Jakhama, undergraduates at the Political Science and History Department, also took part in the distribution of legal pamphlets.
