DIMAPUR — The National Legal Services Authority (NLSA), in association with the Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee, Supreme Court of India, has conceptualised the special mediation drive — ‘Mediation for the Nation’ — under the guidance of the Chief Justice of India and Surya Kant, Supreme Court Judge and executive chairman, NALSA and chairman, MCPC.
In a press release, the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) stated that the ‘Mediation for the Nation’ campaign is being launched across the Nation. It is a 90-day intensive drive to settle pending cases in all the taluk courts, district courts and high courts of India through mediation.
As per the directive of the Legal Services Authority, the NSLSA informed all the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) in the state to conduct the 90-day mediation drive to settle pending cases in all the DLSAs in view of the national campaign, which commence on July 1.

The different category of cases which can be referred for mediation during this campaign are matrimonial disputes cases, accident claims cases, domestic violence cases, cheque bounce cases, commercial disputes cases, services matter cases, criminal compoundable cases, consumer disputes cases, partition cases, eviction cases, land acquisition cases and other suitable civil cases.
“Under this campaign, the district legal services authority has referred a total number 450 cases for mediation out of which 12 cases have already been settled through mediation,” it stated.
The NSLSA urged all advocates, litigants and general public to take advantage of this campaign and refer their cases for mediation.
