Dimapur, July 4 (EMN): While expressing its delight on the approval of setting up the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) by the state government, the Naga Students' Federation expressed hope that it will be implemented in letter and spirit.

The NSF, in a press release issued on Friday expressed contentment at the approval to set up NSSB by the Nagaland state government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his council of ministers, realising the long-cherished dream of thousands of aspiring students in the state to enjoy equal job opportunity and meritocracy in the process of selection.

The federation recalled when the department of Public and Administrative Reform, first forwarded its recommendation on NSSB to the state Cabinet in 1995, followed by the Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation and Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland, however, it said due to weak political will of the time, the same could not be materialised.

"The journey of the NSSB, since inception, has been a difficult path, one filled with many challenges and disagreements along the way, however, through the collective efforts of all the past leaders and the present, the aspirant student community, the concerned citizens and with the sincere commitment and sheer political will of the present state government led by chief minister and his council of ministers, our hard labour has come to fruition today," it stated.

Stating that 'it is not the final blow that breaks a rock, but all the blows that had gone before the last, and in this light,' the NSF acknowledged all those who have shouldered this noble responsibility in the past by carrying forward the aspiration and collective dream of a future built upon the foundation of equality and meritocracy.

The NSF further conveyed its gratitude to the state government for its concern towards the student community and the youths for having embarked upon a historic crossroad of the state.
