Dimapur, Sep. 9 (EMN): The Sovima Village Council (SVC) has strongly resented the September 8 incident in which the members of the Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) intruded into its jurisdiction and placed posters and banners without any courtesy or decency of giving prior information or taking permission of the council.
While referring to the Nagaland Village and Area Council Act of 1978, it stated that every Naga village is empowered to look after the welfare and wellbeing with a set of convention and tradition. It added that guests and visitors to every Naga village are bestowed due honour and regard to the village authorities before embarking on any activity within the premises of that village, failing which it would construed as an insult to and undermining the authority of that village council.
In the light of the aforesaid circumstances, the Sovima Village Council has urged each and every individual or organisation to respect the sanctity of the Naga villages so that unnecessary acrimony does not arise as the Nagas look forward to an early solution to its political problem and restoration of peace, normalcy and harmony in the society.
