The Nagaland girls' pencak silat team won nine medals to secure the first runner-up trophy at the ASMITA Khelo India Senior National Pencak Silat League 2026 in Shillong.

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Pencak Silat girls secured the first runner-up trophy with nine medals at the ASMITA Khelo India Senior National Pencak Silat League 2026, held at the Sports Authority of India Training Centre, NEHU Campus, Shillong, Meghalaya, on March 26 and 27.
According to a press release, the Nagaland contingent won three gold, one silver, and five bronze medals and emerged as the 1st runner-up among participants from 25 states and one union territory.
In the sparring events, gold medals were won by Liike Kibami, Niya K Thono, and Avikali V Sheqi, while Tina Thapa secured the silver medal. Bronze medals in sparring were won by Illy Swu and Diana.

In the artistic events, Liike Kibami won a bronze medal in creative solo. In the pair composed combat event, Tina Thapa and Liike Kibami secured bronze. In the trio team event, Niya K Thono, Liike Kibami, and Avikali V Sheqi won another bronze medal.
The ASMITA (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action) initiative is a programme under the Khelo India Mission, sponsored by the Sports Authority of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The league was organised by the Meghalaya Pencak Silat Association under the supervision of the Indian Pencak Silat Federation.
The event was attended by Wailadmiki Shylla, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya; John F Kharshiing, Working President, Meghalaya State Olympic Association; and Md. Iqbal, Chief Executive Officer, Indian Pencak Silat Federation.
