The Nagaland Secretariat Service Association hosts a farewell for Mhathung Tungoe and welcomes its 55th batch.

DIMAPUR — A farewell programme in honour of Secretary for School Education Mhathung Tungoe, alongside a welcome ceremony for the 55th Nagaland Secretariat Service (NSS) batch and a general body meeting, was held at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, on May 27.
Delivering his farewell message, Tungoe described retirement as a transition from one stage of life to another.
Welcoming the newly inducted 55th NSS batch, he remarked that the occasion symbolised the old generation making way for the new generation to carry forward the responsibilities of public service.
According to a DIPR report, he encouraged the junior officers to work with dedication and zeal, highlighting that commitment and strong work ethics are essential in government service. He cautioned that officers who lack dedication and professionalism may eventually be sidelined and become dispensable in the system.

Advising the new batch to remain hard-working and sincere in every department entrusted to them, he urged them to strive to become indispensable assets to the government and their respective departments. He also reminded the officers to maintain integrity and impartiality while discharging official duties, particularly in handling office matters and files.
He pointed out that officers should never become obligated to any individual in the course of their duties, stating that personal obligations could affect one’s ability to make fair and sound decisions.
Speaking on behalf of the Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA), Secretary for Planning and Transformation P Nungsangwapang Jamir described the occasion as both emotional and meaningful, as it marked the farewell of a senior colleague while welcoming the new 55th NSS batch into service.
He encouraged the newly inducted officers to adapt to the work culture of the Secretariat and uphold discipline, punctuality, and dedication in service.
He reminded the new batch that government service requires commitment, teamwork, and a willingness to learn, adding that rules and regulations would serve as their guiding principles throughout their careers. Highlighting the importance of unity and cooperation among officers, he urged them to maintain the spirit of service and uphold the values of the association.
Reflecting on his years of service alongside Tungoe, Jamir recalled the challenges and experiences they shared over the decades. He praised the retiring officer for his sincerity, calm leadership, dedication, and dependable presence, stating that his contributions and guidance had greatly benefited colleagues and the department alike.
He further noted that despite the many challenges faced during their years in service, Tungoe remained committed and hard-working, setting an example for younger officers to follow. On behalf of the NSSA, he conveyed gratitude and wished the retiring officer a happy retired life ahead.
Deputy Secretary and NSSA President Neiserü Miachieo also expressed gratitude to Tungoe for his dedicated service and contributions during his tenure.
