Dimapur, November 9: Officials of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG) undertook a tour to the districts recently. The ‘district tour’ culminated on November 8 with a meeting in the DC’s conference hall in Kohima town, the organisers informed in a press release on Wednesday.
The district president for Kohima Rovilatuo Mor, and officials from the state and district headquarters, were among those who attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the district president informed that Kohima being the ‘host district,’ the scouts and guides need to ‘come forward in assisting the state headquarters wherever necessary.’ Mor assured that the Kohima district unit would be coming up with a ‘standardised building’ at the State Training Centre at Nerhema before the jubilee celebrations of the organisation in April, 2017.
Although a good number of private schools are enrolled in Kohima district, the president also called for more mobilisation programmes to ‘sensitise and create awareness’ about the scout and guide movement in government schools. The president, also the deputy commissioner of Kohima district, has ‘personally initiated’ a call for a meeting of all government school headmasters from within Kohima on November 16 at 1:00 pm in his office chamber.
In other matters, Mor informed that Kohima “city” had been declared smoke free city in which he said the scouts and guides can actively contribute to ‘creating awareness and help in keeping Kohima town clean.’
Also, Rovilatuo Mor said that the district administration was on a mission to distribute LED bulbs to every household in Kohima town ‘in order to bring down domestic electric bills while effectively giving satisfaction to consumer as the LED bulbs saves a lot of power consumption in terms of watts and produces brighter light.’
Also, the administrator has requested officials at the meeting to mobilise the scouts and guides to set up assistance booths and render community service during the forthcoming Hornbill Festival at Kisama.
