DIMAPUR — Nagaland schools have been directed to implement and update the Online Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) and Student Database Management System (SDMS) by November 30.
Non-compliance may lead to consequences, including the invocation of the non-cooperation clause, de-recognition, or presumption of non-existence for schools failing to adhere to the directives, according to a notification from the department of School Education on Wednesday.
In the notification, Commissioner and Secretary for DoSE and SCERT, Kevileno Angami, informed that the Ministry of Education (MoE), Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, has issued a directive mandating all states, including Nagaland, to implement the UDISE+ and SDMS. The initiative encompasses various types of schools, including private schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and those under CBSE, ICSE, as well as Central and state governments.

For the Student Profile in SDMS 2023-24, schools are to use the Progression Module to Promote/Transfer the existing students.
For transferred students, schools can utilise the Import Module or Dropbox Module to fetch details from their previous institutions. Only fresh details of student at the entry level of the school are required to be uploaded, read the notification.
It said that the MoE, in adherence to the Right to Education (RTE) Act, has set accountability at all levels of data collection and updates to ensure data consistency and timely submission. School authorities are, therefore, cautioned against submitting inaccurate information related to their respective institutions.
The outcome of this data collection and collation will depict the education status in the state, facilitating the derivation of crucial indicators such as Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), Net Enrolment Ratio (NER), Dropout Rates, Transition Rates, and other key educational metric for the state, it added.
Further, the comprehensive process of UDISE+2023-24 and SDMS 2023-24 is slated for completion by November 30. This timeline is crucial as the gathered data will play a pivotal role in the formulation of the Annual Works Plan and Budget (AWP&B) for the fiscal year 2024-25, the notification stated, while cautioning that failure to comply may result in consequences including de-recognition of the school and other penalties.
