Kohima, Sep. 28 (EMN): As the overall Covid-19 situation in the state is stabilising with weekly positivity rate hovering below 3% for some weeks now, the High Powered Committee (HPC) on Tuesday announced more relaxations, including re-opening of school for all classes from November 1.
The HPC on Covid-19 announced Unlock-7 till October 31, before the ongoing unlocking phase expires on September 30.
Minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu informed that classroom learning for students of all classes will begin from November 1 onwards. In this regard, one month preparatory time is being given (to educational institutions), he added.
He informed that the state government's guidelines on resumption of physical class for students of classes 5 to 10 starting from October 1 still stand.
The minister, who is also state's spokesperson for Covid-19, went on to inform that social services and mass gatherings, including churches and places of worship would be allowed with "full attendance" or 100% capacity, provided people maintained Covid-appropriate behaviour.
He further informed that sports activities have been relaxed with the condition that SOPs are adhered to.
However, he said screening will continue at entry points, particularly in Dimapur.
Kronu said that the HPC has decided to organise Hornbill Festival this year.
‘The matter would be discussed further by the government on how to host it; whether restrictions will be there, and the number of days to be celebrated,’ he said.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had earlier said the Hornbill Festival would be held this year.
The 10-day annual Hornbill festival was celebrated virtually last year with reduced days owing to the pandemic.
