DIMAPUR — A team of researchers led by Dr. Viheno Iralu, Assistant Professor at Nagaland University, and Dr. Meguovilie Sachu, a biochemist from the Chief Medical Office in Kohima, are taking part in the prestigious Sakura Science Exchange Programme 2025 in Japan, scheduled from October 26 to November 1.
The delegation will visit prominent universities and research institutions across Okayama, Kyoto, Kurashiki, and Osaka as part of the scientific and cultural exchange initiative, an update from Nagaland University stated.
The team includes six other young researchers representing various scientific disciplines. Fully funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the Sakura Science Exchange Programme, and hosted by Prof. Takahashi Yuichiro from Okayama University, Japan, the programme aims to promote international collaboration, innovation, and mutual understanding between Japan and other Asian countries through short-term visits and academic interactions.
During the exchange, participants will take part in lectures, laboratory visits, discussions with Japanese researchers, and cultural immersion activities.
“These experiences are expected to strengthen academic collaboration and inspire young researchers to pursue global scientific engagement and innovation,” it stated.
