Kohima, Nov. 5 (EMN): Rüdi Resort was officially opened by Pele Khezhie, Chairman of D Khel Council Kohima village on Saturday.
Located near NH-29 Phek road, Dzüu Bridge in Kohima, the resort has four cottages and three double-bedded rooms.
The proprietor of Rüdi Resort, Kevilhoutuo Yiese, said the new resort also has an in-house restaurant open for all while in the near future, it will also have a basketball court, an indoor stadium as well as a football turf.
The resort has a children’s park and a Naga Morung built within the compound of the resort. Exuding hope that the resort will be able to meet the expectations of the community, Yiese said the journey has not been easy but it has ‘no doubt been very fulfilling’.
"The place I call home is blessed with natural beauty and a unique culture that has mesmerised many for years. As Nagaland has grown as a must-visit tourist destination, I have always wanted to contribute to the tourism industry within my own state, and I hope that the Rudi Resort in its own capacity will be able to not only contribute but also encapsulate all the warmth and hospitality of the Naga people," he said.
Maintaining that the name of the resort ‘Rudi’ means ‘big river’ and asserted that just as a big river brings with it many joys to the people who are dependent on it, he expressed hope that the resort also brings with it an abundance of blessings not only to himself and family but also to the community at large.
He shared that work for the resort started in 2020 and acknowledged those who have supported him.
Meanwhile, he also asserted that the endeavor is not just an income generating exercise but one which is the need of the hour for both young and old, more so for the youth to have a healthy space for leisurely activities, a place to bond with family and friends.
The chief guest for the day, Pele Khezhie, in his speech congratulated Kevilhoutuo Yiese for this achievement of completing Rüdi Resort, one of the first resorts in Dapfhiitsumia Khel (D Khel) while he also congratulated Ki Designs, for completing their first project.
He said society is deprived of many recreational avenues like cinemas, parks, orchestras, play courts, resorts, etc. adding, "Every now and then especially in the evenings we find young and old people alike loitering every nook and corner often bringing us a sense of displeasure or dislike even if their intention or activities may not be evil."
“We cannot always afford to blame or point our finger at the government for the lack of infrastructure or leisure facilities. But similar to this very venture, we can come up with innovative ideas to entertain ourselves and contribute to society at the same time,” said Khezhie.
He maintained that every year, thousands of tourists from the country and abroad are visiting the state and the new resort will be a step forward to accommodate them and eventually lead to boosting the state's economy as well.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Peteneinuo Sekhose, special number was presented by Maleate from Khedi Baptist Church Youth, vote of thanks was proposed by retired chief engineer of Power department, Keviletuo Yiese and prayer was offered by Dr. Ruokuovilie Sachü, Pastor Khedi Baptist Church.
