DIMAPUR — The Nagaland RMSA Teachers Association (NRMSATA-2016) has urged the state government to implement a court-backed pay scale and release pending arrears for RMSA 2016 batch teachers, stating that the matter has attained finality before the Supreme Court of India.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the association recalled that the Gauhati High Court had directed the government to grant the scale pay applicable to similarly situated teachers.
It added that the government's Special Leave Petition was dismissed by the Supreme Court and that a subsequent Review Petition was also dismissed on January 15, 2026.

Expressing concern over the continued delay in implementing the judgement, the association said that teachers have been waiting for the benefits for several years.
It further claimed that salaries had not been released since April, placing many teachers and their families under financial strain.
While acknowledging that administrative formalities may be required, the association maintained that there was no justification for further delay and claimed that the proposal had already cleared departmental processes and legal vetting.
The NRMSATA-2016 called on the government to implement the judgement, release all arrears due to RMSA 2016 batch teachers and ensure prompt disbursement of pending salaries.
