  • DIMAPUR — The Health and Family Welfare department on Monday assessed the state’s preparedness in handling the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

  • A press release informed that Health Minister P Paiwang Konyak led the review during a high-level meeting held at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare.

  • He assessed the department’s preparedness in terms of manpower, availability of medicines and consumables, oxygen supply, readiness of Rapid Response Teams, and surveillance mechanisms.

  • “Covid-19, as per data available, is of mild category,” it stated.

  • The department assured that it is adequately prepared to handle any eventuality, with daily monitoring of the situation underway. It advised the public not to panic “as the situation country-wide is not alarming.”

  • As mandated by the Centre’s guidelines, the department informed that it will continue testing all Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases and 5% of admitted Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) cases.

  • “Public are advised to follow Covid-19 protocols and follow respiratory and hand hygiene,” it stated.
