Nagaland reports 184 cases of violence against women in 8 months

As per the annual report of the Social Welfare department, a total of 184 cases of violence against women during the period from April 2024 to November 2024 were reported

  • KOHIMA — Under Sakhi One Stop Centre Nagaland, the state reported a total of 184 cases of violence against women during the period from April 2024 to November 2024, as per the annual administrative report 2024-25 of the Social Welfare department.

  • Further distribution of the cases showed that there were 56 cases of domestic violence, eight cases of rape, seven cases of sexual offence, assault, and harassment, four cases of trafficking, 31 cases of missing, abduction and runaway, 10 cases of cybercrime, 56 cases of abandoned and distressed women, and eight other forms of case violence against women.

  • District-wise data showed that Dimapur reported the highest number of cases with a total of 72, while Mon and Zunheboto districts reported the lowest with six cases each.

  • Also, the total number of calls received from April to November 2024 through the 181-Women Helpline was 1,792, and the total number of effective calls received was 103.

  • The type of cases received are 31 cases of domestic violence, two cases of support and assistance, 17 cases of cybercrime, four cases of rape, five missing cases, two cases of rescue and home verification, two cases of harassment, one case of stalking, four cases of emotional violence and abuse, two cases of distress, and 33 cases of information on government-related schemes, programmes, and laws.
