  • DIMAPUR — Nagaland registered its highest-ever monthly Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in the month of April—coinciding with the all-time high All India GST collection in the same period.

  • “In April 2025, the All India GST collection reached an all-time high of INR 2.37 lakh crore, marking a 12.6% increase year-over-year. This figure represents the highest GST collection since the tax regime's implementation in July 2017.

  • “Nagaland state also saw its highest ever monthly GST collection in April 2025. In the 8 years since the implementation of GST, the taxpayer base in Nagaland has increased manifold and currently stands at approximately 12,000 taxpayers, which are divided in jurisdiction between Central and State GST authorities,” stated a press release issued by the Central GST Dimapur Commissionerate on Sunday.

  • Crackdown

  • In a major crackdown, the Anti-Evasion Unit of CGST Dimapur reported a substantial recovery of INR 35 crore in GST dues from M/s Naagaamii Infratech Pvt. Ltd. in April. The recovery includes INR 31.5 crore in cash and INR 3.5 crore through Input Tax Credit (ITC), it informed.

  • “The recovery follows an investigation initiated against M/s Naagaamii Infratech Pvt. Ltd. for non-payment of GST during the financial years 2023–24 and 2024–25.

  • Through diligent efforts the officers ensured compliance, resulting in the taxpayer paying a cumulative GST amount of approximately INR 40 crores till date.

  • “This action underscores CGST Dimapur’s commitment to safeguarding national revenue and ensuring adherence to tax regulations,” it stated.

  • As part of the pre-GST Day celebrations, the CGST Dimapur Commissionerate organised a cycle rally on Sunday, in collaboration with the Fit India Movement’s “Cycles on Sunday” initiative.

  • Around 90 enthusiastic cyclists assembled at the CGST Office near Clock Tower, Dimapur, where the rally was flagged off at 6.30 am. The participants followed a route that culminated at Hotel Layover, 3rd Mile NH29, where certificates were distributed to all participants in recognition of their involvement.

  • Cooperation and transparency

  • The GST Dimapur called for greater cooperation between government bodies, businesses, and citizens to ensure the continued success of the GST regime. It also urged taxpayers and businesses to utilise services like the GST Help Desk and Seva Kendra for queries and assistance.
