Nagaland receives INR 55.41 crore under PMMSY in 3 years

DIMAPUR — Nagaland received INR 55.41 crore in central funds under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) during the last three financial years from 2023-24 to 2025-26, according to data released by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying on July 22.

The Department of Fisheries has been implementing the flagship PMMSY scheme since 2020-21 for the holistic development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in the country.

As per the state-wise data, a central share of approximately INR 66.84 crore was approved for Nagaland during the last three financial years (2023-24 to 2025-26), against which INR 55.41 crore was released.

Among the eight northeastern states, Assam received the highest amount of central funds at INR 114.79 crore, followed by Mizoram at INR 51.03 crore, Meghalaya at INR 43.28 crore, Tripura at INR 54.30 crore, Arunachal Pradesh at INR 82.45 crore, Nagaland at INR 55.41 crore, Manipur at INR 10.47 crore and Sikkim at INR 31.82 crore.

In terms of the central share approved, Assam received the highest allocation among the eight northeastern states at INR 118.17 crore, followed by Arunachal Pradesh at INR 76.23 crore, Tripura at INR 91.39 crore, Nagaland at INR 66.84 crore, Manipur at INR 54.61 crore, Mizoram at INR 36.78 crore, Meghalaya at INR 36.31 crore and Sikkim at INR 24.48 crore.

At the national level, a total central share of approximately INR 3,159.82 crore was approved under PMMSY during the three financial years, while INR 2,208.73 crore was released.

The Ministry stated that the allocation of central funds to States and Union Territories is made annually based on the overall budgetary allocation, performance of the states and UTs, fund absorption capacity, physical and financial progress, and liabilities arising from projects approved in previous financial years.
