Kohima, Aug. 3 (EMN): The department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance on Wednesday released INR 377.50 crore for Nagaland, as part of the 5th monthly installment of the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit (PDRD) grant.
This instalment has taken the total amount to INR 1887.50 crore of the total PDRD grant released to the state during 2022-23. The PDRD grant recommended by the 15th Finance Commission for the year 2022-23 for Nagaland is INR 4,530 crore.
The department has released a total of INR 7,183.42 crore to 14 states.
It also stated that the 15th Finance Commission has recommended a total of INR 86, 201 crore PDRD grant to 14 states for the financial year 2022-23.
The grant is released by the department of Expenditure to the recommended states in 12 equated monthly installments. With the release of the 5th instalment for the month of August, the total amount of revenue deficit grants released to the states in 2022-23 has gone up to INR 35,917.08 crore.
The PDRD grants are provided to the states under Article 275 of the Constitution to meet the gap in revenue accounts of the states post devolution.
The eligibility of states to receive this grant and the quantum of grant for the period from 2020-21 to 2025-26 was decided by the 15th Finance Commission based on the gap between assessment of revenue and expenditure of the state after taking into account the assessed devolution during this period, the release stated.
