Dimapur, Sep. 6 (EMN): The department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance on Tuesday released INR 377.50 crore for Nagaland, as part of the 6th monthly instalment of Post Devolution Revenue Deficit (PDRD) grant.
This instalment has taken the total amount released to the state during 2022-23 to INR 2265 crore. The PDRD grant recommended by the 15th Finance Commission for Nagaland is INR 4,530 crore.
The Finance ministry on Tuesday released the 6th monthly installment of revenue deficit grant of INR 7,183.42 crore to 14 states for the current fiscal, while the 15th Finance Commission has recommended a total of INR 86,201 crore PDRD grant to the 14 states for the financial year 2022-23.
The grant is released by the department of Expenditure to the recommended states in 12 equated monthly installments and with the release of the sixth installment for the month of September, the total amount of revenue deficit grants released to the 14 states in 2022-23 has gone up to INR 43,100.50 crore.
The eligibility of states to receive this grant and the quantum of grant for the period from 2020-21 to 2025-26 was decided by the 15th Finance Commission based on the gap between assessment of revenue and expenditure of the state after taking into account the assessed devolution during this period, an update by the Press Information Bureau stated.
The states who have been recommended Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant by the 15th Finance Commission during 2022-23 includes Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
