Dimapur, Aug. 29 (EMN): Fairly widespread rainfall is likely over Nagaland during August 31 to September 2, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) weather forecast.
Fairly widespread and moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning is “very likely” over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during August 31 to September 2, and over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during next five days, IMD reported.
District-wise rain forecast in Nagaland showed that on August 30, there will be scattered rainfall in Mon, Longleng, Tuensang, Zunheboto, Wokha, Kiphire, Mokokchung, and Dimapur district and fairly widespread rainfall in Peren, Kohima and Phek district.
On August 31, fairly widespread rainfall is likely in Mon, Longleng, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Kiphire, Phek and Kohima district and scattered rainfall in Wokha, Zunheboto, Dimapur and Peren district.
On September 1, widespread rainfall is likely in Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Phek district, fairly widespread rainfall in Longleng, Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Wokha and Kohima district and scattered rainfall in Dimapur and Peren district.
On September 2, widespread rainfall is likely in Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Phek district; fairly widespread rainfall in Longleng, Mokokchung and scattered rainfall in Zunheboto, Wokha, Kohima, Peren and Dimapur district.
According to the IMD, isolated and very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during August 31 to September 2, it stated.
The impact expected due to the downpour are flooding of roads, water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses, minor damage to kutcha roads, possibilities of damage to vulnerable structure, localised landslides/mudslides, damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation, it added.
