- DIMAPUR — The
Power department under Kohima electrical division has decided to undertake
extensive disconnection drive of defaulting consumers, who have not paid
electricity bills including government offices, SPM villages and disconnection
of illegal/ unauthorised connections in February.
- In this regard, the executive engineer of Kohima electrical
division has requested all categories of consumers (urban and rural areas)
under the division to clear their electricity bills at the earliest in order to
avoid inconvenience.
- It also warned the public against resorting to illegal/
unauthorised usage of electricity in the form of hooking, tampering of energy
meter, by-passing of energy meter etc., as it is a serious offence that could
invite penalty in the form of fine/ imprisonment or both as per Indian
Electricity Act, 2003. It, therefore, urged the public to desist from such
activities.
- Consumers are also requested to read the information printed
at the back of electricity bill and to note that ‘non-receipt of bill does not
mitigate liability for payment of charges for energy consumed. The consumer
should therefore, in his own interest, enquire from the location office of bill
not received.”
- In case of any discrepancies and any other grievances in the
bill, consumers are requested to visit the office of their respective SDO No. I, II, III for clarification, correction
and rectification.
