Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): Department of Power, Kohima electrical division, has commissioned the prepaid electricity metres on October 26 by installing the first prepaid connection at the official residence of its engineer-in-chief at Electrical Colony, Kohima.

The prepaid connection was installed in the presence of the colony vice chairman, secretary and GB along with officials of the department and the executing agency M/s Universal Power Solutions.

An update from the executive engineer Rükongutuo Suohu informed that the department would initially provide prepaid metres in few earmarked colonies on a daily basis while also sensitising the consumers on the functionalities of the newly installed meters. He added that all conventional consumer meters in major towns of the state would be gradually replaced by prepaid meters in a phased manner.
