Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN):
Nagaland police is all set to add a new weapon to its armoury as a “few hundred” Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Tavor X95 assault rifles will be arriving shortly in the state.

The Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland, T John Longkumer confirmed the news to Eastern Mirror on Tuesday.

According to the DGP, the Israeli manufactured assault rifles (X95) will be replacing the normal weapons, such as the SLR Rifles, that are currently being used by the Nagaland police.

Besides being the standard issue assault rifles of the Israeli military, sources from the police also informed that upgrading to the X95 will have great advantage for the personnel in combating ‘various situations’ as the assault rifle is one of the lightest; weighing less than three kg.

“It is ambidextrous and can be transferred from the right hand to the left if needed,” the source said.
